The remote - Miranda and Kathryn come clean to Eve, not able to bear their guilt anymore

Eve watched the newly obese housewives make their way to the exit. They continued prattling on about boring household chores and PTA meetings, content with their meager place in the world, and unaware of the status they'd had minutes ago. Patty's gut led the way, swaying and wobbling with each step, while Anju's hips and ass rolled as she waddled away. The pair of women, each over 400 pounds headed off to a content life of mediocrity.

She was surprised, but pleased by how far Miranda and Kathryn had gone with their transformations in the mall. They had left the beach girl worse off, quickly changing her since their backs were against the wall from her comments. They had messed up, and left her with a bitchy personality though, evidenced by the fact she had still picked on Eve in this reality. Likely she was a more vain girl who put down others to feel better about her own appearance. In this case they probably thought they were being more helpful making Patty and Anju housewives, but who knew what jobs they'd had before? Perhaps entire corporations had changed structure, people losing, never getting, or changing jobs and positions with the lack of these women.

Eve knew there was a balance among things. If something happened to one person, it meant changes for several people around them. Miranda and Kathryn were on the verge of not caring about that though. So long as they thought they were helping a friend, or making things better, they didn't put stock into how it ruined other people's lives.

Eve's reverie was halted when the others came up to her. "Eve, there's something we want to talk with you about." Kathryn said, avoiding eye contact.

Miranda and Kathryn led Eve to a secluded part of the store. There was only one reason they'd do that, and Eve waited with bated breath as they started their story.

"I know this is going to sound kind of crazy Eve, but I made this remote." Miranda said as she pulled out the device Eve coveted, and had been responsible for all the oddities of her day. "The thing is it can change reality. All of reality. It can do almost anything you can think of, change anybody in any way, and make it so the person holding it is the only one who knows things are different if they want."

Eve gasped in fake shock. She was close, but not at the finish line yet. If things turned into two against one the situation could turn ugly against her. "How is that possible? And why are you telling me?"

"Well, the thing is we've been using it to change people, like that girl in the beach shop who picked on you. You won't remember it, but those two women that just left were rude, making fun of a heavy friend of theirs, and you thought they could all be happy if they were bigger too." Kathryn explained.

"So you've been helping people? But why based on what it has to do with me? I can understand the first girl, you were standing up for me, but why do something based on what I said to those women?" Eve asked, getting the awkward silence and guilty faces she expected. "Did you use it on me or something?"

Neither Miranda or Kathryn had expected Eve to come out and ask them that so bluntly. It took a minute, but Miranda spoke up. "We did. You don't remember, but you were mean, and cruel, and didn't care how others felt. We made you our friend, but we felt bad about changing who you were. You didn't deserve to be bullied just because we changed who you were. That doesn't matter now though. You're our friend, and we trust you enough to let you know about the remote."

There it was. Eve had gotten to them, and was within sight of her goal.
