The remote - Let's talk about this

Parent Chapter

"Wait a minute. I just want to ask something before we do this whole... transferring of a reality bending device." Miranda said slowly, pocketing the device to show she meant not to use it.

Yuma eyed the device for a bit, but then turned her attention towards her friend. "Alright. What is it?"

"So, before this recent change occurred, you built the device and I was too stupid to. You even commented on that."

"Look, if you're mad about that comment, I'm sorry. But as you can see," Yuma gestured towards her body. "I had a decent enough reason to be irked at you."

"Indeed, but it's not about that remark. So, after I gave myself this change, reality altered. I'm no longer a dumb, overweight nerd, but instead am a beautiful genius."

'Modest, too.' Yuma thought to herself, shifting her gaze down to the remote again.

"So now in this universe, that has its own past with me being that same genius, isn't it possible that I AM now the creator. I mean, I remember writing up the blueprints for this device."

"As do I." Yuma countered. "I also remember your little japes made at my expense while I was drawing them up at first."

"Ah, but that me doesn't exist, not anymore. In fact, she never did. Not to anyone, except for me and you. Really, THAT Miranda is nothing more than a fabrication made up by the both of us."

Yuma could see where this was going.

"If you think you've got some sort of entitlement to the machine I spent so long working on just because you made yourself smarter-"

Miranda pulled the remote out of her pocket. Yuma tensed up, not knowing what exactly Miranda was planning next.

"As for me now," Miranda continued. "I am the creator of this device. We may both be intelligent enough to create it, or at least you used to be seeing as you don't have one on you. Perhaps certain situations changed for you due to your new size... how curious."

Yuma was getting increasingly scared.

"Miranda... you're not behaving like you normally do."

"Maybe that's because the Miranda you knew is gone... or, partially gone. Thanks to these new memories, I can already feel different thoughts straying into my head that I wouldn't have thought of mere minutes ago, and certainly not this morning. It appears all your flashbacks have done was add a little less angelic qualities to someone who would've been a saint with this machine."

Miranda had a wicked grin adorning her face as she looked over the buttons on the remote, and back to Yuma. Yuma was trying to process the situation she was in.

"Miranda, don't do this. I mean, even back to this morning and before that, we were friends. ARE FRIENDS! Don't go all crazy on me. Just... change me back, and we can use the device together. Share the power of the universe. Just... please. Calm down and remember I'm your best friend."

Miranda did have a brief stop from her power trip and recalled all the times Yuma has stuck up for her back in the first reality. All the times she'd helped her out and been patient and generous to her. Even in this new reality, the two were still close, though the roles weren't completely reversed, they almost took their own previous roles.

Miranda sighed. "Looks like I was about to become a little drunk on power, huh?"

Yuma smiled. "Yeah. It's alright."

Miranda pointed the gun at Yuma. "Don't worry. I'll make everything normal."

  1. (Evil) Just a few more physical tweaks, and you can't get in my way.
  2. (Evil) Just a little memory change, and you'll be my plucky plump naive friend again.
  3. (Good) We both are wise enough to wield this. So let's.
  4. (Good) I'd say we can upgrade ourselves from what we were before.
  5. Somebody else gets the remote!
  6. Something Else
