Parent Chapter

“I don't know Ms. Cochran, she might not have an interest in me.” April stirred unsure of herself. Blythe was surprised April had a crush on someone like Heather. Unfortunately, people in Heather’s weight class tend to be single at this point of life. As much as Blythe liked her weight, she was glad she waited till college to start gaining.

“What’s really the worst that could happen? It’s better to ask and get something definitive rather than go crazy with what if’s.” As Blythe said these words of encouragement, April did give it serious thought.

“Okay Ms. C. I guess it would not hurt.” April felt extremely nervous about the thought of finally asking Heather Xavier out, but it was better than what if’s right now. Right? April knew she was in for a tough internal battle. But maybe it would pay off. It was already better than if she had tried before. Being turned more in line with April’s taste was beneficial for the two girls history, as there was less bickering and bitterness between them now. Just awkward conversations and mutual respect.

Looking down the hall, April spotted Heather and Renata at the lockers on the back end. Heather was squatting down to get something from her low locker. April could not help but admire her shape from afar. Gulping down some air, and holding her breath, April decided to go in.

“Renata, hey. I was wondering if you could let me ask Heather something. In private?” Renata eyed April and while she was not sure, she figured space was the polite thing to do. Squeezing her way out she started walking away.

“Hey Heather, I’m going to trigonometry. See you later.”

“K Renata see ya later. What did you want to talk to me about April? Whoops!” As Heather turned to face April, her generous hips knocked some books in her locker on the ground. She squatted down to pick them up. April bent down to help as well. Plus she could admire the way her belly drooped over her waistband.

“Well it’s something I’ve been curious about for a while. There is a new ice cream shop at the mall. I was wondering if you wanted to hit that after school sometime this week?” Heather a slightly bewildered look.

“Really? Why did that need you to send Renata away? She loves ice cream, she’d probably like to come along too.”

“Well Heather, what I mean is... I mean it as a date. Not a friend thing.” April gave her best smile hoping to ease her awkward segway into the question at hand. Heather stood silent for a moment. April was not entirely sure what she was thinking.

“April, that is very sweet of you, but I don’t think that would work out. You see....

  1. “I am not really interested in dating right now. School focus, you know?”
  2. “I am already seeing Renata. It just started, but I really like her.”
  3. “I am not attracted to girls. Plus, I got my eye on a special guy.”
  4. “I like someone else.”
  5. Before she can finish, Heather is interrupted by a sudden phone call.
  6. Other Options.
