The next day, Wanda invited Emma to come to the restaurant for her first day of training. Since Vendos was pretty much self-serve, there wouldn't be a need for many employees. Jean, her friend Storm, Wanda, occasionally Lorna and Emma would be the only ones working typically. Which meant Jean would have to see Emma...a lot.

When Emma came in, Jean was hiding in the kitchen, trying to think of what she should say. Wanda has told her that Emma really needed the job and seemed like a totally different person from high school. She hadn't even recognized her at first she had changed so much. Jean's big sister seemed confident that the ex-trust fund baby could do the job well...Jean wasn't so convinced.

As Wanda guided Emma around the restaurant, showing her how the imported vending machines worked and how to help patrons if they needed it, Jean slowly inched her way out of the kitchen. She saw Emma, with her back turned. Her hair was in a casual pony tail and she was wearing discount jeans and a top-big tank top that hung off her pointy shoulders. She looked like a skeleton. Jean shuddered. Emma had been slim but curvy in high school. What happened? The curious redhead had to know. Without thinking, she took the plunge.

"Um, hi," Jean said, taking a step in front of the nervous blonde. "I'm the owner of Vendos. Jean Grey."

Emma blinked a few times before slowly nodding. "Right. Yes. I...thanks. For this job. I know with my record..."

"What you did to me in high school?" Jean asked bluntly, granting her an annoyed look from her older sister.

Emma nodded again. "And for...my addiction. I know you could've hired better people so thank you. For giving me a chance."

<"Addiction?"> Jean thought to herself. <"What the hell did this girl do to herself?">
